Weekend in SF

Tomorrow we are headed to SF for a much needed night away!  We are taking a half day tomorrow and heading to the city.  One of our favorite bands is playing on Friday night.  We are going down with Jason and Eileen and we are meeting up with quite a few more friends.  Going on this weekend is the Hardley, Strictly Bluegrass Festival at the Golden Gate park.  So we are coming back down on Sunday morning with Abby and will spend a beautiful day at the park.

2:15AM Wake up call!

Usually a 2:15am wake up call comes in the form of Abby needing a bottle or her pants changed.  Not last night.  Last night I was awoken by glass breaking and a car alarm!  Someone was trying to break into Liz and Rudy's (Brian's parents) car on our drive way.  They threw a huge rock in the back window!  As soon as we got out there nobody was there, but a ton of broken glass. So hopefully this was just a random act.  Our neighborhood on the whole is pretty good.  We know most of our neighbors, but about a half a mile on the out skirts the area is a little sketchy.  We did speak with our neighbors today and told all of them what happened.  Everyone usually watches out for each other, so hopefully we can keep the crime to a minimum.

Planters Fasciitis

That is what is wrong with my heel.  It started to bother me on Monday and hasn't gotten better.  So I went to the Dr. today and I was right.  She did tell me no more heels, flats or flip flops?? Huh??  What does this mean, running shoes??? How good will I look in my nice black pants, cute top and TENNIS SHOES!!!  We'll see, I'm not sure I can give up my cute shoes yet!

Labor Day = Camping!

What is more perfect on a 3day weekend than camping?  We are heading out for our 2nd camping trip of the summer.  We are heading to Loon Lake with 16 adults and 10 kids!  This weekend is sure to be fun, Abby will have lots of her friends around to get real dirty.  I'm looking forward to just getting out of town and relaxing.  Well, if you call chasing your 14month old around all weekend relaxing!  I'll post pictures when we get back.  Have a safe and fun Labor Day weekend.

Day 2, 3, 4 and 5 Hornings Hideout

So I was hoping to be able to post daily on our vacation but where we went in Oregon didn't have any cell or computer reception.  Wow what a weekend!  That is all I can say.  We went up to Oregon to a music festival to see The String Cheese Incident and had a blast!  Not only was this Abby's 1st music festival it was also her 1st camping trip.  She did amazing!  She is a camper for sure, she loved everything about it.  The dirt, the people, the outdoors.  She slept pretty good too, the nighttime was a little tough, the partying doesn't stop after the concert. It goes way until the early morning hours and she was a trooper she slept more than me!

As far as the music, it was amazing!!  The band we saw was The String Cheese Incident.  They are Jam band, kind of like the Grateful Dead, so it is always a good time!  The last time they played was over 3 years ago which we saw in Colorado, so this was a long time coming.  The shows were amazing and Abby had a blast.  She met so many little boys and girls and danced her little tush off.  She was pooped every night because she slept through all of the 2nd sets, which let Brian and I dance and have a great time!

So here are a few pictures from the weekend.  We had a wonderful time and now we are off to the Oregon coast to stay with Bob and Con for a few days.  Until tomorrow! :)

Day 1....hitting the road

Today is the day, we are off on our adventure! We got on the road around 7 tonight, we wanted to be the road about 6 but there was a little detour we had to make.  You see when Brian was getting on the freeway, the wagon became loose on the back of the Jeep and we lost it! Right there on Highway 50 in 5 o'clock traffic.  Luckily no cars were hit, but the wagon was no more.  So we headed to Liz and Rudy's totally bummed out, but we needed to pick up Abby and get on the road.  So we hit the road about 7 and Abby quickly fell asleep so that was nice.  After talking about it and feeling a little sick to our stomachs we started to call all the Target's and Walmart's on I 5 to see if we could locate our little wagon.  Well we finally got a hold of a Walmart in Red Bluff and they had the one, so around 9 o'clock this evening we pulled into Walmart and purchased another red wagon, with Abby being none the wiser.  Little side note, that peopleofwalmart.com doesn't lie, there are some interesting folks at Walmart.  Anyway we were back on the road around 9:30, Abby woke up while we were stopped and wasn't too happy to get back in the car seat.  She did fall back asleep around 10:30 and slept til we arrived in Ashland-Medford.  We got into the hotel around 1 and I think we maybe got 4 hours sleep.  Until tomorrow!!!

We are headed to a music festival where our favorite band is playing.  We are going to be camping for 4 days, then on Monday we are going to stay in Portland, see the sights and then visit a friend.  On Tuesday we are heading to our wonderful friends house on the coast in Brookings to stay a few days.  Then on Thursday we are heading to the Redwoods to finish out our week.  We are taking Abby with us and can't wait to see how she does away from home for 9 days.  One thing I do know, it is going to be an adventure but I wouldn't want it any other way!

Happy Birthday Abby!!!

1 year already!!  It is still so fresh in my mind the exact moment that they put her on my chest.  It was the most amazing feeling I have ever felt.  This past year has been so wonderful, to see her grow into this wonderful, smart, funny and sweet child makes my heart melt everyday. In the past years she has done so much, here are some of the things that Abby does and loves.

She can walk on her own
She has 8 teeth
She loves cheese puffs and water!
She loves Sid the Science Kid and Dora
She can say Mama, Ball
She lights ups when Kinky comes in the room and she is learning to be gentle with her.
She can climb up and down the stairs
She loves strawberries and Mac n Cheese

Everyday she does something new and completly amazes me.  I can't wait to see what this year has in store, but to me she will always be my tiny little lady.  Happy Birthday Abby, Mommy loves you with all her heart.

Happy Anniversary!!!

Today is our 3 year Anniversary!!  What a 3 years it has been.  When I met Brian I had just broken up with a long term boyfriend so I was really serious about taking a break from relationships, but all of that went out the window when we met.  We had met thru a mutual friend which both of us had known for several years but we never had been introduced.  When I met Brian it was like I had known him for years.  He was so friendly, polite and so damn cute.  During that evening we made small talk and had a great time, but I knew I wanted to hang out with him again.  So I asked him out!!!  I guess the rest they say is history!!  In the last 3 years we have been thru so much and there is no one I would ever want to do it all with then Brian!!  He is such an amazing person and I love him more and more everyday.  Now that we have Abby our lives are so complete and I can't wait to grow old with him and see Abby's kids grow up.  So Happy Anniversary sweetheart, I love you so much!!!!

Sorry, I've been busy!

This past month has been so busy and my little blog has been neglected!  But I'm back!  Alot of stuff has been going on these last couple of weeks.  Abby is now a full time walker, she is moving around faster than I would like her too, but to see her walk it just amazes me how fast time goes.  My niece Amber graduated from Jr. High and is off to High School which blows my mind.  She is the best kid, she gets great grades, she's so sweet and is just so fun to be around, Congrats Amber and good luck in High School, it's quite a ride.  Every weekend we have had something planned and up until the 2nd week of August we are busy every weekend.  It is amazing how fast your summer gets booked up when there are kids involved.  A couple things we have planned these up coming weeks are Camping in Fort Bragg, 3 birthday parties including Abby's 1st birthday, road trip to Oregon to see String Cheese and my high school reunion.  So here is to the start of a busy, busy summer!!!

We have a walker..offically!!

So Abby has been really trying to walk on her own for about a month now, you know walking along the couch, the coffee table, the wall anything that will hold her up.  She also went from holding both our hands to holding just one when we walk with her.  So last week we were at Auntie Tina's and she decided she wanted to walk without any help.  She got 3-4 steps out and then she sits and crawls.  This has been happening for about a week.  Then today I got the call from my Mom...she walked 8-9 steps all by herself, without a table or couch or anyone helping!!  So we have a walker.  I can't wait to see how well she's doing when I get home from work.  I will try and get video tonight and post so everyone can enjoy!!

1990

1990!  That is the year I graduated!! Has it really been 20 years, where does the time go?  The reason why I'm talking about this is because I'm on the reunion committee and right now we are in the middle of planning things.  So one of the things we are doing is having all the graduates fill out a bio page and tell everyone what you have been up to for the past 20 years. This got me thinking, "What have I been up to in the past 20 years?" I have to say, I've done a lot!  When I look back I have no regrets with what I have done with my life. Actually I'm pretty proud of what I've done. Some good things that have happened to me are~ I became a Mom, homeowner, I opened my own business, managed a couple businesses, found the love of my life, made and kept some truly wonderful friends and lots of other little things, but too many to mention.  I've also been through quite a bit in those 20 years.  I did get married back in 1993 when I was 20, and divorced at in 2002 at 30.  This was one of the hardest times in my life, but also such a learning experience.  Like I said earlier, NO regrets!  I truly believe I had to go thru some tough times to become a better person.
So I have just about 3 months til the reunion, so it's time to start eating better, running and of course shopping!  I do need the perfect outfit for this BIG night!!

1st Mother's Day!!!!

I have been looking forward to this day for a long time and I wasn't disappointed!!  I had such a wonderful Mother's Day weekend.  It started off on Saturday morning with my Mom, my Brother and Abby doing the Race for the Cure walk.  This is such an inspiring event to attend and it was really great spending the morning with my Mom, Jimmy and Abby.  After our 3.2 mile walk we headed to Brunch at Mimi's, a nice ending to a wonderful morning.
Then later that evening we headed out to my Mom and Dad's for dinner celebrating Dad's Birthday and Mother's Day.  Jimmy and Brian made a wonderful Mexican fiesta, and of course I ate too much.  It is so nice to spend time with my family, my nieces take such good care of Abby and it gives me a little break! Here is my Mom and Dad with all the grand kids.
Then Sunday was Mother's Day.  I have been celebrating Mother's Day for my Mom for as long I can remember and have been looking forward
to celebrating myself this year. I really wanted to celebrate with just Abby and Brian, my little family!  So we decided to head to SF and go
to the Zoo.  The weather in Sacramento was cold and rainy, but in SF it was the complete opposite~sunny and perfect.  We got to the Zoo around noon and it wasn't crowded at all.  So we walked around and saw all the animals, alot were sleeping.  I guess Sunday's are lazy for animals as well.  Abby and I went on the Carousal which she loved! After the Zoo we headed over to the Beach Chalet for lunch.  I guess on Sunday's they have a BBQ with a live band out on the grass area.  So we decided to eat lunch there.  We had our camp chairs in our car from the park so it worked perfectly!  The day couldn't have been more perfect, I had such a great day.  I can't wait for my next one.

Graduation Party

So Friday night we had a Graduation Party for our wonderful friend Kristen.  After 3 long years of school she is now a Nurse!!! So of course we HAD to have a party.  It was such a great evening, the weather was perfect and we had a ton of wonderful Mexican food brought by a lot of Kristen's friends.  We were so happy to have the party here at our house, Kristen is such a great friend and she really has worked hard to get where she is at.  So Congrats KB!!  We love you!!  Here are some pictures from the evening.

Sick Abby

So yesterday I called my Mom to check up on Abby, my Mom takes care of Abby Tuesday- Thursday. My Dad answered and I said " Hi Dad" " Can I talk to Mom?" He says " Well she is a little busy, Abby threw up everywhere." My heart sank. I asked "What's wrong", he said " Let me get Mom". Of course my Mom reassured me everything was fine, but Abby had in fact thrown up everywhere! She was fine when Brian dropped her off, but after having some breakfast she threw up all over my Mom. This is the 1st time Abby has ever gotten sick, she has had a cold, but nothing like this. So of course I left work early and went to pick her up. It took me an hour since I work in Fairfield and I started to get a stomach ache myself. All I wanted to do was hold my sweet little baby. So when I got to my parent's house she was in just a diaper because she was a little hot, but no more throw up, thank goodness. So we gave her some Tylenol and Pedilyte and she fell asleep for about 15 minutes. When she woke up she was feeling better. I'm not sure if it was the flu, but she has been teething for the last 6-8 weeks. This could have been a really bad teething episode. Poor little girl, she was so sleepy and whiny. She started to feel better later in the evening but it was a long night for all of us. Today she doesn't have a fever, but doesn't want to sleep, maybe too much yesterday! Hopefully we are past the worst, it just breaks my heart when she is sick.

When the 1st one came out we all went to my friend Tina's house for appetizers and cosmos of course, then off the the movie. We had such a fun time, so this year we must do the same. 9 months to put it on, 9 months to take it off

Isn't that what they say?? I have been bouncing back in forth with my weight ever since Abby was born. I had gained a total of 27 lbs with Abby and lost most of it by 3 months, but not all. Also things just weren't as firm as I wanted them to be. So I decided in January that I was going to train and run a 5k, this should firm things up right? So on April 11Th I ran the Zoo Zoom, I did pretty good- 40mins! My goal was a 12 min mile, but it came out to more like a 13.25 a mile. I also have been really making a conscious effort of eating better. So this last week I weighed myself and low and behold I'm below the weight I was when I got pregnant! So there you have it, 9 months to put it on, 9 months to take it off!! I wouldn't do it any other way. I know how hard it was to look in the mirror and see things not the way the used to be, but then I look at my sweet little lady and think " it's all worth it" So for all those new Moms out there, do it at your own pace and remember what the reason was for the weight gain.

Survivor Thursday

Today is Thursday which = Survivor! We have been getting together with our great friends Jason and Eileen for the past few years on Thursday to watch Survivor. Well Jason, Brian and myself watch it, Eileen either reads the US magazine or talks to us during it. We switch off every week going to each other's houses and we usually pick up Papa Murphy's and enjoy some wine. Let's face it, it's really just an excuse to hang out with the Edwards and drink wine. :) Here's to Thursday's!

Sunday's in the park

So lately we have been heading to the park on Sunday's to get out of the house and enjoy the nice weather. The cool part about McKinley Park is they have a drum circle on Sunday's. Brian loves to drum so this is perfect. We also have a small drum so Abby can play along. Here are some pictures I took, enjoy!!

Picture Day!

Abby turned 9 months on the 6th, so it's time for her 9 months pictures. When she was born I said I would do newborn, 3m, 6m, 9m and 1 year. Well we didn't get newborn pics done, but I did do 3m and 6m. We went to JCPenny and they turned out great!! Really affordable, the people are really sweet and they look great. So today was the 1st day we had free to get them done AND Daddy is coming with us!! It is a family day. I'm really happy Brian is coming with us, he can always get her to smile so big! Then it's off to Cheesecake Factory for lunch! I will post the pictures next week, I hope everyone has a great start to the weekend, I know we will!

The start

So here I am starting a blog. I never really thought that I would have enough to say in a blog, but after reading so many I think I'm ready to try. A little about us, we have been married almost 3 years. We had our 1st baby in July, her name is Abby. We call her our "golden child" Since bringing her home from the hospital she has always been a great baby. She never cries unless she is hungry, she hardly fusses if she needs her pants changed, she has been sleeping in her crib since she was 3 weeks old, she has slept through the night since she was 2 months old, she is always smiling and friends and family ask us "is she always this good" Then in the next breath they say "you better not have another one, he/she won't be this good" We actually want another baby and hopefully this summer we will start trying and then we will have "golden children" :) Here is one of my favorite pictures of Abby. This is when she was3 months old.

As far as my Husband and I, I work at Papyrus Corporate office in Fairfield as an Asst Buyer for stationery. I have been working for them for almost 6 years and I love it. Brian my husband works for Wine Warehouse as a Sales Rep. He sells wine and spirits to Resturants. We always have wine in the house, so that is good when your having a bad day! We love entertaining, I'm always looking for an excuse to have people over. We just bought our 1st home last February, it has a pool and lots of space so we put it to good use.
